Minnesota American Indian Month Events – May 2022 

May 2

Metropolitan Urban Indian Directors Community Group & Native American Community Development Institute- 2022 American Indian Month Kick-off Event at Cedar Field, 10 am; parade to Minneapolis Indian Center. Lunch following.

May 5

National Day of Awareness: Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Relatives (MMIW-R) hosted by: Minnesota Indian Women's Sexual Assault Coalition.

Join us to view an art installation from Artists C3 & to hear from MMIW-R survivors, family/friends, and other community members to share remembrances of people, words of support, and engage in collective healing.

  • Boom Island Park at the Survivors Memorial, 724 Sibley St NE, Noon
    Please wear red, wear masks, and socially distance for the safety of our community. 
  • MIGIZI Young Leaders Showcase, 2610 E 32nd St, 4-6 p.m.
    MIGIZI Young Leaders Showcase is championing and empowering our young Native leaders who have been a part of our organization as we celebrate their achievements and showcase the work they have done. A meal will be provided.
  • Meet artist Inkpa Mani Water Works Park, 425 West River Parkway, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

  • Minnesota Indian Women's Resource Center Open House, 2300 S 15th Avenue, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.; food, bingo, program
  • Franklin Library, Coffee & Conversations, 10 a.m. - Noon; walk-by and pick up “The Thunder Before the Storm” and have coffee/doughnuts.
