2024 changes to doula services and reimbursement.
Doulas, OB-GYN providers, family medicine providers, perinatologists
In 2024, doulas will no longer be required to bill under a supervising provider. Doula agencies and individual doulas will be able to obtain direct reimbursement. This change is a result of Minnesota legislation which passed in 2023. Doulas will be required to be licensed by the state and must enroll as a MHCP provider. Reimbursement will increase to $100 per prenatal or post-partum visit and $1,400 for attending and providing services at birth. Doula services are considered open access and no prior authorization is required.
